1841 Hugh Campbell 50, James Steel 30, John Steel 8, Hugh Steel 6, Isabella Hasting 30, Mary Connell 20, Agnes Welsh 40 and John Brian 10
1851 Ivie Campbell 62 farmer of 100 acres with one labourer. Robert Smith 22, Isabella Patrick 30, and brother Hugh Campbell 65 widower. Both Ivie and Hugh were born in New Cumnock, and in. 1841 Ivie was living at Castle Farm with the rest of his siblings and mother Janet Brown. He retired unmarried with his brother John to a house in New Cumnock by the 1871 census.

1861 James Steele 36 is farmer of 130 acres with wife Margaret 35. Their children are Robert 9, Janet 8, William 6,  and James 5, and John 3,  Their servants are Helen Ritchie 25, James Miller 18, and Janet Jerman 14, tender of cattle.

Also at Glen, William Wilson 31, shepherd with wife Sarah A  24 and children Janet 3, and John 1. Sarah Adams 64 is a visitor, Dick McMillan 58 is a shepherd, and they have a daughter Sarah under 1.




1871 Daniel Craig 38 is farming 234 acres arable with servants James McKnight 21, ploughman, William Craig 13, Margaret McKnight 30, housekeeper, and Margaret Brydon 15.

This is the last record where farming is a listed occupation.

1881 Margaret Houston 49 is a general domestic servant with her daughter Jane Imrie 7. Also Jane Gilchrist, 82, annuitant.
1891 John Hutchinson 25, is a railway pointsman at Glen.
1901 John McGuffie 33, a coal hewer is at Glen with his family.
