Location OS six inch first edition a hill sw of Cumnock

1841 census Pluck Alexander Connell, 70, farmer, wife Grace (Taylor) 3 children

1851 census Pluck Alexander Connel 85 farmer of 4 acres, wife Grace

Alexander Connell died in 1854

Marion McMichael died at Pluck 27/2/1855. She was 86yrs old and had lived all her life in the neighbourhood. Her father was John McMichael who was a herd and her mother was Helen ms McKie. The informant on her death certificate was James McMillan, occupier.

Scotlands Places of 1855/57 describes Pluck as "A few small dwelling houses about 10 chains south from Laigh Pluck, the property of the Marquis of Bute.

Laigh Pluck is described as "A dwelling house on the farm of East Grimgrew - the property of the Marquis of Bute occupied by Andrew Connol".  In the 1841 census, Alexander Connell has a son, Andrew 15 - see above link.

It is difficult to see which property had the 4 acres attached, but tempting to believe it would have been Laigh Pluck, just because Andrew Connel was living there in 1855.  Further census returns should clarify.
In 1915 Isabella Meikle McCartney died at Pluck Cottage.
