The 1841 census has John Reid 42, employed as a carter living at Kyshill along with his wife Jennet 40, daughters Jane 12 and Elizabeth, and son John 10.
By 1851, John is 50 and described as a farmer of 18 acres, his wife Janet is 48, and son John is 20. Elizabeth is living at Keyshill, but no Jane, who would be 22 by then.
1861 John and Janet are 60 and farming 20 acres employing 1 man. Elizabeth's age is given as 22.

by 1881 Kayshill, Ochiltree seems to comprise of five households, and there is no mention of any lands associated with any of them. As Reidston is tenanted by the same person since the valuation rolls of 1865, it is assumed that Kayshill land has been amalgamated with Reidston under the Tenancy of the Lindsay family, and the original farm house converted or added to for residential purposes.
The valuation rolls show a link between Reidston and Kayshill, along with the Lindsay family name.

"In 1911 it was agreed that the children [pupils of Drongan School] aged from five to seven years should be provided with transport to get them to Sinclairston and back. William Drain of Kayshill was paid thirty shillings per week to provide it".
