Roundshaw, Auchinleck

Location on map

2022 currentl  the Welsh family

By Bob Forrest in 2007 from Geograph

It was part of the Auchinleck Estate

The Valuation Rolls list Roundshaw as being in the parish of Sorn. Tenants include James Weir 1800s and owner Major Alexander,  and Robert Wardrop 1900s as proprietor and occupier.

In 1841 census it appears in the parish of Sorn with John McCrae the farmer age 55

This map shows proximity to a rabbit warren, hence Larishaw? Or note the old drove road passing right through Roundshaw.  A stopping place for resting and watering animals is a lairage. Is this the origin of the lands of Larishaw mentioned in the 1818 advert? Interesting speculation.
