1841 census for Pencloe shows Robert McCormick 60 farmer, wife Mary (Osburne), 6 children and 3 others. Robert died in 1842 and in
1851 at "Penclove" his widow 65 Farmer ( Of 1200 Acres)
 is carrying on son Alexander 22 a granddaughter a shepherd and 2 other servants

Also at Pencloe in 1841 and 1851census is Sarah Anderson (Kirkland) 40 widow of farmer William Anderson, children. They went to Australia soon after 1851 census and set up a mill near Smeaton.
1861 James Milligan 50 and wife Jane farming 1801 acres employing 4 men and 2 women.  They are Margaret S Kennedy, neice 18, William Lindsay 21, shepherd, John Kirk, ploughman 17, Agnes Hyslop dairymaid, 23, Elizabeth Black, cook 16, and Mary Thorburn 12, lodger.

1881 census John Brown 39, wife Janet 51 with Jane Hamilton 17, general servant, and William Greenshields 32 shepherd, are living at Penclove.  They are farming 1285 acres 15 arable employing 1 man and 1 girl

1901 census for Pencloe has John Clark 27 farmer wife Jessie 26 Janet McCartney servant a shepherd and a ploughman
