1851 Census - Dykes Farm, Auchinleck
George Boswell 46 & wife Jean 32 (ms Officer - m 21/6/1839 Auchinleck)
farmer of 86 acres  emp 1 labourer.  Also living there were their 3 children, 1 woman house servant, 2 male farm servants (They emigrated to Ohio)

The 1861 census shows  John Alexander 45 farming there with his wife Margaret (Dalgliesh) 38,  their children William 15 & Robert 13 (both farm labourers), George 9, Hugh 6, James 3, Jane 3 & infant son John. He was a farmer of 100 acres employing 2 women servants Janet Simpson 24 & Martha Duncan 13.

The 1871 Census shows John Alexander 54 farmer of  95 acres with his wife Margaret 48, son Hugh 16, son James 13, dtr Jane 13, son John 10, dtr Mary 8, dtr Maggie 3 and Janet Ferguson 16 domestic servant.

The 1881 Census shows John Alexander 65 farmer of 95 arable employing 1 man and 4 girls along with his wife Margaret 58, son John 21, dtr Mary 18, dtr Margaret 13, grandson John Alexander 9 and Agnes Judge 15 general domestic.
