Transferred from the parish of Ochiltree to the parish of Stair (Hay Shennan report 1889)
In 1709 William Doak married Isabell Lees in Ochiltree. They had a son, John baptised 7th February, 1714, and the residence given is Dalrymplestown. More children followed, James 5th January 1716, Robert May 1719, and Margaret 11th February 1722.
The Doak family seem to have stayed at Dalrympleston, as in 1809, James Doak (1783-1861) married Mary Symington from neighbouring farm Whitehill, Ochiltree. There were also Doaks at Bardarroch.
After that, these Doaks seem to drop off the radar, but Ancestry dna results for Mary Symington’s family picks them up in Doaktown, Northumberland, New Brunswick, Canada. See Wikipedia for the story of the founders - the Doaks from Ayrshire.
