Logan Holmhead, Old Cumnock

Location near Logan Bridge Old Cumnock

1861 Holmhead William Lamont 59, farmer of 50 acres employing 2 labourers and one boy. Son William Lamont,29, born Auchinleck,and servants Jane Sharp 28 and Marion Robertson 13.

By 1871 William Lamont 47, and wife Jane 40, are farming at Longhouse, and Holmhead is being run by William senior.

1871 William Lamont 68, farming 60 acres, 48 arable , son John 46 and his wife Ann (Howie) 44, and servant Esabilla (Isabella) Crabb, 17.
1881 census for Logan Holmhead Farm shows William Lamont 84 Farmer Of 50 Acres Arable Employing 1 Man And 1 Girl, son John 50, and his wife Christina (Forsyth) 34, 2 small children Mary 4 and William 2, and a young female servant, Grace Anderson 15.
Son John Lamont continued until his death in 1901 at Logan Holmhead.

1901 Christina Lamont, widow 57 with daughter Mary Johnstone Lamont 24 and son John 19 managing the farm.
