An article in the Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald of January 1883 describes a journey taken by a returning cleric who was disappointed to find that the farmhouse was in ruins, and the lands taken up by neighbouring farms.
The road outside the farmhouse appears to have been prone to flooding, with one case of it being washed away completely by the river.
