1871 William Jamieson 45 is an agricultural labourer and farmer of 5 acres with wife Helen 30 and daughters Mary 11, Elizabeth 4, Agnes under 1 and Helen 9, and sons Thomas 6 and James Geddes 2
1881 census William Jamieson 55 and wife Helen 48 are farming 11 acres, 5 arable.  They have two children still at home, James 12 and Agnes 10.
1891 and William is 64 and described as a crofter. Helen 58 and Agnes his daughter are at Little Speirston, and William was born in Ireland.

" The small dairy farm of Little Speirston, the acreage of which is 15.786 and the rental £24, was sold at £400 to Mr William Breckenridge, Ayr"
