The 1861 census shows agricultural labourer Allan Gibson 65 living there with his son Allan a ploughman.
The 1871 census shows William Cokner 28 an agricultural labourer living there with his wife & children and 2 railway workers.
The 1881 census shows Laigh Plaid now occupied by John Miller 73 a curling stone maker with his wife Catherine 70 and their family.
The 1891 census shows Catherine Miller 80 ow a widow living at 1 Low Plaid with her daughter and daughter's husband (James Jess) who is a railway pointsman. Living at No 2 Low Plaid is Allan Miller a railway labourer and his family.
