1841 census shows William McClymont 75 as the farmer with Janet McClymont 30, Abigail McClymont 25, 2 Male agricultural labourers and 1 female farm servant.
William is a widower his late wife being Margaret Stodhart.

1851 census show James Laurie 43 farmer 500 acres  3 labourers ,wife Janet (McCormick) 3 children John, Mary & Robert age 12 and under,  1 Male farm servant, 1 female farm servant and 2 boy farm servants.
 Son Robert was born about 1846 in New Cumnock so think that is when they came to New Cumnock

1861 shows James Laurie 56 farmer of 500 acres with wife Janet and children John 22, Mary 18, Robert 15, niece Jessie Sloan 15 a domestic servant, 1 ploughman, 1 dairymaid and Mary McCormick a visiting dressmaker,

1871 Census shows  James Laurie 63 farming 500 acres of which 75 are arable with his wife Janet 61, son Robert 25 daughter Mary and her husband Thomas Kerr farm servant and James Kerr  9 their son, 2 female domestic servants, 1 Male servant and Agnes Watt a visiting capmaker,

1881 Census shows John Laurie 73 farmer of 500 acres of which 60 are arable employing 2 men, 2 women, 1 boy. Also on the Census there is 1 ploughman, 1 Male general domestic, 1 dairymaid and 1 housemaid who would probably be included in above.

1901 Census shows John Laurie 62 farming with his wife Margaret, her daughter Mary Sharp dairymaid, son Robert ploughman, and daughters Margaret & Joan, James Sharp 17 grandson a worker on the farm, grandchildren Janet, John Mary, Hugh and 1 shepherd..

Mary Laurie or Kerr, Viewfield, Castle Douglas widow died 22/11/1912 at Sanquhar testate. Conf granted at Kirkcudbright to James Kerr, 397 Great Western Road, Glasgow, James Laurie farmer, Lanehead, New Cumnock and Robert Laurie, farmer, Knockburnie there executors.
