Valuation Roll 1875 tenant John Murray (including Shankstonfield).  1905 - 1935 tenant Robert Munn.  1940 (including Whitemeadow).

1881 census shows James Murray 52 described as a hotel keeper and farmer of 450 acres arable employing 6 men and 2 women.  He is living in the Dumfries Arms Hotel on Glaisnock street.
