1841 Braehead Robert Welsh 35, Mary (Kennedy) 25, George 8, James 5, and Alexander 2.  Servants are Agness Findlay 20, Susanna Johnston 15, and John Cameron 10.
1851 Braehead  Robert Welsh 49 and wife Mary 39 and children George 18, James 15, Mary 8, and Isabella 3.  They also have two house servants, Helen Samson 17, and Sarah Samson 14.
They then moved to Hall of Auchencross.

1861 Braehead David Weir 37 and wife Grace (Steel) 37, are farming 130 acres.  Children are Agnes 17, David 7, Jane 5, George 4, Janet 2, and Grace 1.  Hugh Rorison 20 is their ploughman and Mary Smith 15, a domestic.
1871 Braehead, and David and Grace have added to their family with Andrew 8, Mary 6, and Rankin 4.  Janet Young 20 is their general servant, and Agnes Anderson 42 is a visiting farmer's wife born in Argyl.
1881 Braehead David and Grace are farming with their family David 28, Andrew 19, Janet 22, Grace 21, Mary 16, and Rankin 14. Also at Braehead is Agness Kerr, niece 19, a dressmaker.
1891 Braehead, David Weir 67, Grace 68, and daughters Mary 26 and Rankin 24 remain at Braehead.  servants are Margaret Rorison 19, William Hair 18, and William Symington 18 but  their son David Weir 38, was farming at Riggfoot, New Cumnock with his sister Janet.

1901 David Weir junior 48 has moved back to Braehead and is farming with sisters Janet 42 and Rankin 34.  Servants are Jane Davidson 15, ploughman Hugh Napier 23, and Clark Gibson 15.

20 carts of  children from Cumnock UP Sabbath School had an outing Braehead in 1880.
