The 1851 census for Whitholm shows Hugh McKerrow a 37yr old shepherd living there with his daughters Elizabeth 15, Margaret 13, sons John 11 and William 9 and aunt Isabel McKerrow 26 housekeeper.. By 1861 Hugh is in Dornal.
NB. Hugh's wife Jean Thomson died September 1842
Another 1851 census shows William Ferguson a 47yr old shepherd and his wife Elizabeth 43 living in Whiteholm with their children Jean 10, James 9 and Elisabeth 4.

The 1861 census shows Elizabeth McKerrow a 42yr old widow who is a farmer bower of 10 cows now living in Whiteholm with her daughter Mary 19 and son Alexander 9.
Another 1861 census for Upper Whiteholm shows William Ferguson a 58yr old shepherd, his wife Elizabeth W. (Walls)  53 and daughter Elisabeth 14 living there.

The 1871 census for Whiteholm shows William Ferguson a 66yr old shepherd living there with his wife Elizabeth 63m son James 29 who is also a shepherd and daughter Elizabeth 23.

1881 census shows Alexander Struthers 37, and Margaret  (Law) 27 his wife farming 110 acres arable employing 1 man and 2 girls at Whiteholm of Dornel Farmhouse. Also living there are his children Robert 5, James 3 and Gavin 2, 1 dairymaid, 1 female general domestic and 1 male farm servant.

The 1891 census for Whiteholm Farm, Lugar, Auchinleck shows Alexander Struthers 47 farming with his wife Margaret (Law) 37 and his children Robert 15, James 13, Alexander 8, Jeanie 5 and Sarah 2. He employs 1 female general domestic.

Alexander Struthers died at Dornel farm 18/5/1913. In his will confirmation was granted to his son and next-of-kin Alexander of Dornel.

The 1901 census for Whiteholm shows Margaret Shankland (Armstrong) a widow (no age recorded) who is a bower living there with her son Archibald Shankland 6, her brother-in-law Robert Shankland a 33yr old widower who was formerly a dairyman, William Armstrong her 16yr old brother who is a servant and Isabella McBlane 17 who is also a servant.

Margaret Shankland's 1st husband Hugh Shankland died at Whiteholm 6/5/1900 age 37yrs. 
She married her 2nd husband William Lammie 25/11/1902 at Wallacetown Farm, Lugar.
