Stevenston or Stevenstoun was let to William Caldow, later in Dykehead, in 1784 and to John Stirling in 1786 and 1798. Its house was rebuilt in 1787.

Charles Howatson son of William Howatson and Jean Samson was born at Stevenston of this parish on 19 April 1832 and was baptised on 8t May following at Auchinleck Mill by Rev Mr Boyd.
The 1851 census shows William Jamieson 56 farmer of 85 acres and his wife Jean 53 (Bryson). His son Andrew 22 and daughter Helen 25 are employed on the farm while daughters Janet 12, Margaret 14 and daughter Elizabeth 8 are helping at home. Their baby grandson James Johnstone is also listed.

The 1871 census shows Alexander Jamieson 51 farmer of 117 acres arable employing 2 men and 1 woman. He is assisted by his wife Elizabeth 45, daughter Jane C. 17, son James 11, 1 male farm servant and 1 female general domestic.
By 1881 Elizabeth Jamieson 55 is a widow farming 117 acres arable with the help of her son James 21, servant John Jamieson 60, and Jane McCallum 37 dairymaid.

The 1901 census shows John Howat 46 still farming there with his wife Jessie 44, daughter Annie D 16, daughter Jeanie R 13, son Hugh B 8, son Mungo 6, and son John J 4.
