The 1851 census shows Alex Sloan 55 farming 300 acres employing 2 labourers with his wife Margaret 52, son Peter 19, dtr Agnes 17, dtr Sarah 13 grandson John Spence 9, 1 female house servant and 2 Male agricultural labourers.
The 1861 census shows Alex Sloan 64 and his wife Margaret 61 farming 360 acres emp 2 men and 1 boy, dtr Sarah and grand-daughter Mary McCormick 2, 1 ploughman, 1 dairymaid and one Male herd age 13yrs.
The 1871 census shows Alexander Sloan 75 farming 280 acres of which 180 are arable along with his wife Margaret 72, Alexander Spence 27 their grandson, 1 ploughman, 1 Male farm servant, 1 Male general servant, 1 female general servant and Mary McCormack age 17 their grand-daughter.
By the 1881 census Alexander Sloan 86 is with his grandson Adam Sloan 25 farming 289 acres 270 arable employing 2 men 1 boy and 2 girls. Alexander died in May 1881. The next tenant is not a relation.
The 1891 census shows William Sloan 50 farming with his wife Jane (Harvey) 49, their son James 23, son William H (Harvey) Sloan 21, son John 19, son Mungo 12, niece Sarah J Sloan 7 and 2 female general servants.
The 1901 census shows son James Sloan 33 farming with his wife Grace Jane (Steele), son William 7, dtr Margaret McM. Sloan 4, dtr Jane H Sloan 4 months, 2 female domestic servants, Mary G Sloan 14 a nurse, 1 ploughman and 1 Male farm servant.
