Muirdyke, Old Cumnock

Agnes Cowan, daughter of Charles Cowan in Silverburn acknowledged herself with child and declared that John Sharp, son of James Sharp farmer in Muirdyke, is the father of her child.

1841 census Hugh Sharp 40 and wife Margaret (Lapraik) 40 with children and other young family members
1871 census George McCririck is a Farmer Of 200 Acres Of Which 150 arable, Employing 6 Labourers with wife Jane (Russell) elderly father in law, 5 children 3 servants and 2 vagrants
1881 census George McCririck 56 and wife Jane 50 are farming 200 acres 140 arable employing 1 man.  Daughters Janet 19 and Jane 13, and son James 17 live with them at Muirdyke.  They have a farm servant James Osborne 36, and also present is Jean Stewart 77, a vagrant, formerly a weaver.

In 1901 census George's son James McCririck 37 is the tenant with his wife Agnes, 3 children, widowed mother and 2 servants

Muirdyke steading and  inbye  ground sold c1962 to Archie Stevenson , and  sold  again late 1960s to  Wm McDonald (Cumnock paint shop owner)

Land west  of  the  farm  road  got  open casted. Steading  and  restored ground  bought by  Mrs  Williams. Sold  again to Hodge family.
Now operated as an equestrian business. 

Eastern half  of Muirdyke owned and  run  with  Changue 1974-2018, then sold and planted  as  new  woodland  2019.
