James son lawfull to James Rankine in Milleoch and Sarah Mitchell his spouse was baptised March 21st 1765


Horse Tax 1797-98  Andrew McClannochan  5 horses, 3 taxed

1841 census shows the same Andrew Mclanachan 80 with 3 family members and 3 servants. Andrew died  there in 1846 and his son James is in charge in the
1851 census  James McLanachan farmer of 131 acres with wife Margaret (Robertson) 3 children and 4 servants

In Cumberland, it is usual practice to give a new farmer a 'Boon day' a tradition that has been going on for many years. Does this still happen in Ayrshire?

1881 census George Reid 38 and family are farming 109 acres arable employing 1 man and 2 girls.  His brother David 52, sister Mary 47, and niece Annie 17 are living at Milzeoch
They have a farm servant Rebecca Welsh 18, and a boarder Robert Bannatine 75, annuitant. Robert died there in 1890. His next of kin was a nephew, Richard Bannatine Allason of Logan, Caption RHA, a landowner
