Alexander Mitchell (died between 1780 & 1795) was owner of the estate of Hallglenmuir in Auchinleck Parish. The lands were sold to Hugh Logan c1775-1779 and Mitchell went abroad to escape his creditors in 1780. On a letter from Mitchell dated 18/5/1780 and written aboard the ship on which he was fleeing the country JB wrote 'NB. - He died abroad.'

By 1871 Low Glenmuir census unmarried William Jamieson 34 was the farmer of 220 acres along with his brother Andrew farm servant, sister Mary 36 dairymaid, sister Jane 18 servant, 1 female servant and 1 male servant.
In 1881 Low Glenmuir William Jamieson 45 was a farmer of 224 Acre All Arable Employing 2 Men And 2 Women. He was assisted by his unmarried sister Mary 37 who was the dairymaid, 1 male farm servant and 2 female farm servants. In January 1882 at the age of 51 he married Georgina McKerrow of Crosslar farm.
