1851 William Hislop 57, Blacksmith wife Mary 54, daughters Jane 27, Margaret 13 and Ann 11 and son Robert 8.
Also James Montgomery 44, shepherd with wife Marion 41, sons John 16, Robert 12, James 8, William 6, Alexander 3 and George under 1 and daughter Margaret 13.
1861 James Marion Alexander and George H are still living at Bent, James is a shepherd.

1871 John McDowal 35 is an agricultural labourer with wife Ann 35 daughters Elizabeth 11, Margaret W 5, Agnes 3, Mary under 1, and sons William 8, Andrew 6, and John 1.  Also resident is Elizabeth Provin 70 , mother in law.
Also a shepherd family, the Morrisons. Jean 54, James 26, a mineral borer, William 24, shepherd, John 21 also a mineral borer, and Elizabeth 11 and Jean 10, grand daughter.
1881 And the McDowals are still here with the addition of David 7, Hugh 6, and James 4.  Elizabeth Provan is 89 and listed as a dressmaker.

1891 Thomas Murdoch 29 is an agricultural labourer with wife Margaret 30 and daughters Elizabeth 6 and Jane 2.
