With great assistance from Dr Jenny Blain, I have been researching early THOM(TAM/TOM/TAME) persons in Ochiltree and Coylton parishes and have come across a number of children in the Ochiltree OPR listed to a Johne Tame of Bardaroch from 1669 when he married a Margrat Millikine in Ochiltree and later family when the same Johne married Jean Robb there in 1673 still residing at Bardaroch until at least 1682. Also linked members of Johne's in-law Millikine family much earlier i.e. May 20, 1644 Baptism of Bessie Millikin daughter to John Millikin in Bardaray a corruption of Bardarroch. August 18, 1650 Baptism of Christian Millikin daughter of John Millikin in Bardaray. July 16, 1653 Baptism of Jonet Millikin daughter of John Millikin in Bardaray. Also January 1671 Testament dative of Janet Murdoch who died in January 1671, given up by her husband John Mulliken in Bardarroch within the parish of Ochiltree, as executor dative. Inventory: two cows, two horses, two bolls corn, one boll bear, the furniture and household goods plus her clothes Ł29. Debts owing in none. Debts owing out: to John Ritchmond of Caldarroch of rent and dues the said year Ł48. The cautioner’s name is not given and no children are mentioned. Registered in the Commissariot Court of Glasgow on October 3, 1671. [Commissariot of Glasgow (NAS), CC9/7/38]
