Ratification in favour of Lady Mary Bruce and William Cochrane

Our sovereign lord, with advice and consent of the estates of this present parliament, ratifies and approves and, for his majesty and his highness's successors, perpetually confirms a signature, passed under his majesty's royal hand, of the date the [---] day of May 1686, to his majesty's loved William Cochrane, son to Sir John Cochrane, late of Ochiltree, and the male heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated of the marriage between the said William Cochrane and Lady Mary Bruce, his spouse, daughter to the deceased Alexander [Bruce], earl of Kincardine, which failing to the said William his other male heirs to be lawfully procreated of his body of any other marriage, which also failing to the said William Cochrane his other heirs of tailzie specified in the said signature, which also failing to the said William Cochrane his nearest lawful heirs and assignees whatsoever (with and under the burden of the liferent, right and provision after-mentioned thereby given, granted and provided to the said Lady Mary Bruce, and with and under the reservation, provision and clause irritant particularly mentioned in the said signature, which are hereby held as expressed and repeated hereinto for the sake of brevity), heritably and irredeemably, of all and sundry the lands and others underwritten, namely all and whole the seven merk and half merk land of the dominical lands of Ochiltree, with the manor place of Ochiltree, houses, biggings, yards and whole pertinents thereof, and mill called the Holm mill, with multures and sequels thereof, the merk land of Palmerston, the merk land of Knowe, the twenty-three shilling, four penny land of Bridgemark, the half merk land of Burnmouth, the three merk land of Finlayston, the three merk land of Tarbeg, the twenty shilling land of Killoch, the four merk land of Barturk, the four merk land of Pennymore, the two merk land of Cawhillan, the forty shilling land of Gallowlee, the ten shilling land of Gargowan, the two merk land of Auchinbay, the merk land of Plotcock, the ten shilling land of Nether Creoch, the merk land of Schaw, the two merk land of Over Glen, with houses, biggings, yards, orchards, annexes, parts, pendicles, outsets and pertinents of all and sundry the particular lands above written; and which lands and others foresaid are proper parts and pertinents of the lands and barony of Ochiltree, and with the teind sheaves and other teinds, as well parsonage as vicarage, of all and sundry the said particular lands included, all lying in the sheriffdom of Ayr; all and whole the two merk land of Burnockhead, the two merk and one half merk land of Darntaggart and Hannahston, with the mill called New mill, multures and sequels thereof, the four merk land of Knockshiffnock, the four merk land of Pinstamer, the four merk land of Crofthead and Barquharrrie, the four merk land of Lessnessock, the four merk land of Achencloigh and Bent, with the tower, fortalice, manor place, houses, biggings, yards and pertinents of the same, the four merk land of Tonerbgin, the merk land of Clandiehill, the forty penny land of Glenlintoun, the twenty shilling land of Corflatt, the twenty shilling land of Glengavel, the three merk land of Cruigach, the three merk land of Merkleackstoun, otherwise Nevintack, the ten shilling, four penny land of Hill, and two merk land of Auchlin, the two merk land of Glenconner, the merk land of Rottenrow, the two merk land of Barlosh, with all and sundry castles, towers, fortalices, manor place, houses, biggings, yards, orchards, mills, woods, fishings, dovecots, coals, coalheughs, tenants, tenantries and service of free tenants, advocations, donations and rights of patronage of the churches, benefices and chaplainries of the same, and whole parts, pendicles and pertinents of the same, and which lands, with the other lands above-mentioned, were of old annexed and erected in a whole and free barony, called the barony of Ochiltree, and with all other lands particularly and generally pertaining or which may be known to pertain to the said barony of Ochiltree; all and sundry the lands called Viccarsholme with the pertinents, and with the advocation, donation and right of patronage of the parish kirk of Ochiltree, parsonage and vicarage thereof, and with the teind sheaves of the same and other teinds, great and small, parsonage and vicarage, fruits, rents and emoluments of the said lands and barony of Ochiltree and lands called Viccarsholme with the pertinents, all lying in the sheriffdom of Ayr foresaid. And also, all and whole the lands and barony of Trobboch, with the tower, fortalice and manor place, houses, biggings, yards, orchards, mills, multures, sequels, woods, fishings, outsets, annexes, connexes, tenants, tenantries and service of free tenants, parts, pendicles, and pertinents thereof whatsoever, lying in King's Kyle and sheriffdom of Ayr foresaid, excepting the lands of Clawslang and the four merk land of the dominical lands of Trobboch, and twenty shilling land of Tarbuie, with the whole parts, pendicles and pertinents thereof, sometime possessed by Sir James Dalrymple of Stair, and his tenants, which whole lands and others particularly after-mentioned, with the teinds and pertinents thereof, are united, erected and incorporated in a whole and free barony, called the barony of Ochiltree; and also all and whole the thirty merks land of Carbellow, comprehending therein the five merk land of Boghead, the two merk and half merk land of Gask, the two merk and half merk land of Welltrees, the five merk land of Stonebriggs, the five merk land of Maclellanstoun and five merk land of Wallaceton and five merk land of Duncanziemere, with houses, biggings, yards, orchards, parts, pendicles and pertinents thereof whatsoever, with the teinds of the same, included within and lying in the parish of Auchinleck and sheriffdom of Ayr foresaid, reserving always to Dame Margaret [...], spouse to the said John Cochrane, in case she survive him, her liferent right of as many of the said lands and others foresaid as are provided to her, and wherein she is infeft, conforming to her infeftment of the same all the days of her lifetime, after the decease of the said John Cochrane, in case she survive him; and such like, all and sundry the lands and others underwritten, namely all and whole the twenty shilling land of Greenhill, with houses, biggings, yards, outfield, infield, muirs, peats, mosses, common pasturages and whole parts, pendicles and pertinents of the same, sometime possessed by John Shaw and John Rennie, lying in the sheriffdom of Ayr foresaid; and also, all and whole the lands of Knockdones and Slowanstoun, the two merk land of Craigman, the two merk land of Bruntston, the four merk land of Beoches, with houses, biggings, yards, woods, fishings, tofts, crofts, outsets, parts, pendicles and whole pertinents thereof, lying in King's Kyle and sheriffdom of Ayr; and also, all and whole the nine shilling land of old extent of Nether Bargower, with houses, biggings, yards, parts, pendicles and pertinents thereof, lying in the lordship of Killsmuire, bailiary of Kyle-Stewart and sheriffdom of Ayr, together with all and sundry other lands, heritages, tenements, yearly annualrents, liferents, mills, woods, fishings, teinds, reversions, tacks, possessions, wadsets and others whatsoever formerly pertaining and belonging to the said Sir John Cochrane,
