The 1901 census shows unmarried son James 45 farming House of Water with the assistance of his brother Daniel 36 who is a shepherd. His mother Elizabeth (Janet??)73 who is now a widow, his unmarried sister Elizabeth Craig 43, his niece Bessie Craig 9 and Mary Neill a 13yr old general domestic servant are also living there.
