Location 

OPR baptism 1755 Aug 10 - Andrew Gibb in Cooperhall and his spouse Elspet Gemel had a child baptised called John 

Horse Tax  1797 - 98 John Samson Cooperhill, 3 horses.

The  Kay  family are  linked  to  Cooperhill - ancestors  of   the  Kays  who  made  curling stones  in Mauchline. Descendants  of  these  Kays  include  the  Ramsays - threshing  machine contractors in  Mauchline (  Ramsay and Jackson - still trading as  machinery  dealers) and  the  Robbs  who  are  still in  South Palmerston.

1861 Charles and Isabella are farming 176 acres and only sons Robert, John , and Duncan are with them.  servants are ploughmen Duncan White 28, James Tack 18, dairymaid Elizabeth Hodge 26, and Janet Bain 17.
1871 Charles 53, and Isabella 53, farming 204 acres employing 2 men and a boy.  Sons Robert 26 and John 23, and daughter Mary 24.  Servants are James Murdoch 23, Janet Sharp 26, and Margaret Summers 18.

In the 1881 census, Cooperhill was farmed by Charles and Isabella Stewart and comprises of 20(0?) acres arable employing 2 men and 2 women. Son Robert 36 and servants Elizabeth White 26, Mary McMurdo 26, William KIirkland 20, and George Traynor 16. John C Stewart, whose marriage is announced above was an Innkeeper with wife Jeanie C and sons John C 3, and Alexander 1, in Main Street, Doctor's Lane, Ochiltree. She was from the farm of Stevenston, Auchinleck.
1891 Robert Stewart 46 and mother Isabella 73 are farming with niece Agnes Stewart 12,and nephew Charles10. Servants are Mary Houston 25, Jane McHarg 20, and Duncan Anderson 30

Following the  death of  Hugh Sloan,  Cooperhill was purchased by James Stevenson, 1910-74  of Bankend. 

His  son  D Murray Stevenson sold  it to Matthew Gemmell (from Drongan House/Lochmark)  in 1990 and the Stevensons moved to Sandyford Farm, Prestwick  in 1990. (RMS)
