26/11/1783 - Robert Boswell formerly residing in Barglachan died.
8/12/1830 - Boswell (no christian name) formerly residing in Barglachan was buried. Wife of John Boswell.

From Whitsun 1822 John Boswell of Barglachan was in arrears of rent by £44. 1824  letter from Thomas Gibson threatenening to sell if debt not satisfied. Letter in the Yale library collection. He must have succeeded in paying, as his family continued in it for decades

1851 census shows Archibald Boswell 36 the son of John farming there with sisters Margaret 40 and Janet 38. It was a farm of 130 acres employing 2 boys and 3 women (2 of whom appear to be his sisters described as house servants and the other one a female general domestic servant). Also there was a 7yrs old visitor Agnes Boswell.
The 1861 census shows Archibald Boswell 46 farming 200 acres and employing 1 boy & 3 women along with his sister Janet 48 domestic servant. Also living there were 2 dairymaids, 1 ploughman and 1 male cow herd.
The 1871 census shows an unmarried Archibald Boswell 57 farming 190 acres of which 100 are arable and employing 1 man & 1 boy. Also living there is his sister Janet as housekeeper, 1 female general servant and 1 farm servant (boy).

Archibald died at Barglachan in 1878

The 1881 census shows Janet Boswell 70 farmer of 120 acres of which 100 are arable and 20 pasture employing 1 man, 1 girl, 1 boy ( a ploughman, a female general servant and 1 male general domestic servant).
The 1891 census shows Charles Gibb 64 now farmig Barglachan with his wife Ellen 55 (Helen Williamson), son Henry 20, daughter Maggie 17, 1 female domestic servant and 1 boarder Kate Oliver 23 a schoolmistress.
The 1901 census shows Charles Gibb 74 farming with his wife Helen 65, son Henry 30, daughter Maggie 27, 1 female general domestic and 1 male farm servant. Also boarding there is John G Irvin 21 a schoolteacher.

Probate: 4/7/1911 Ayr
Charles Gibb farmer Barglachan, Parish of Auchinleck died 24/5/1911 at Barglachan aforesaid testate. Conf granted to Robert Mitchell, Rutherford Cottage, Senwick, Gatehouse of Fleet and Robert Cumming, store manager, Birnieknowe Store, Auchinleck. Executors.

The Gibbs were connected to the Boswell family.  Charles Gibb senior was the first husband of John Boswell's wife Jean Brown.
