Location South of Blackwood
We are grateful to Dr Jimmy A Begg who points out our omission of Blackwoodhill in New Cumnock parish. He writes
Blackwoodhill - My G-g-grandfather James Begg was a farm servant at Blackwood in 1841, lived in Blackwoodhill on the shoulder of The Knipes after he married - and after a spell in Sanquhar, came back to live in 1851 at High Boig, Bank Glen near Connelpark.
I can find no mention of it in the 1855 Valuation Roll
In the 1841 census Jane Mckerrow 25 a carrier lived there with a child 8 year old Margaret Rodgerson. Think this is her niece, daughter of Janet Mckerrow married to John Rodgerson. They rest of the Rodgersons are at Laight in 1841.
