The Pinta Princess and Miss Scotch Lamb competitions were ostensibly to promote the products.
The Pinta Princess was run by the Scottish Milk Marketing Board and heats were held via the Scottish Young Farmers. This went on from the 1960s until the 1980s.
Then there's the Stockman of the Year competition which began in 1969 and continues today. The Changue Cup was sponsored by Stevenson's Dairy Farms in Cumnock and is also organised via the Young Farmers Club, an organisation set up in the 1940s with the vision of John Stevenson who was awarded the MBE in 1951 for his work in this respect. The judging is done at the Royal Highland Show. It is open to women as well.
