Hillend of Corsencone was located north of Merkland and was marked in the 1843 OS six inch map as a ruin and is marked but not named on the second edition of 1888. It was the home of William Vass in 1834.
On the 1841 census it is farmed by Robert Steele (married to Flora Vass sister of the above William) and family who were in Merkland by the 1851 census.
