Scotlands Places describes this as "A farmsteading the property of Alexander Aird now occupied by James McKerrow." 1855-57. There is no McKerrow listed on the census as residing at Springhill in 1851.

1861 William Bryson 41, labourer and bower with wife Jane 39, children Andrew 14, James 12, William 9, Margaret 6, and Mary 1. Jessie Waddel 17 is their dairy servant.
1871 David Henderson 24 is a shepherd with wife Elizabeth 33, and children Ann 5, Margaret 4, John 2 and Janet under 1. They also have a step daughter, Elizabeth Steel 14 and a servant Daniel Thorburn 16.
David Henderson appears to be the same as the David Henderson from the shepherding family at Auchtitench, Auchinleck.
The Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald of May 1872 announces that David Henderson aged 25 of Springhill Auchinleck has died. His widow Elizabeth and children are found in subsequent census returns as living in Muirkirk. Elizabeth did not remarry, and worked as a muslin sewer from her house on the main street. One of her daughters was a dressmaker at the same address and son John worked on the railways.
