Burnockhill No.1 Pit was sunk on the lands of Burnockhill farm, two miles south of the village, in July 1902......The mine closed in 1928.

1905  Howat/McCosh Proprietors and tenants.  By 1905 the Howat family and Andrew McCosh have bought the farms of Burnton, Burnockhill between them.
