Note Walter's wife died at Skares Row, and he was a Chelsea Pensioner.

Valuation Roll
1855 tenant Daniel Robb (Hindsward and Skares). By 1885 miners' rows had started to appear and there is no mention of a farm. By 1905 there is a substantial community with a school, store and reading room.
Widowed Daniel Robb married Margaret McCrone (daughter of David McCrone) in 1860 and was living with her at Skares in 1861
