A farmsteading consisting of dwelling & outhouses the former 2 storeys slated the latter one thatched - partly in good repair partly in bad repair. Mrs Hamilton Boswell proprietor.

The 1841 census for Pennymore, Ochiltree shows Robert Murdoch 65 farmer, wife Jean (Key) 60, farm servants Helen Barber 30 & Margaret Nichol 20, William Findlay 15 and a beggar John Campbell 45.

The 1851 census for Pennymore shows Robert Murdoch 79 farmer of 105 acres and employing 5 labourers. He is assisted by his wife Jane 74, daughter Jane 49, house servants Elizabeth Gibson 26 & Agnes Kerr 18 and farm labourers John Steven 15 & George Syme 27.

Robert Murdoch's grandson. Son of his daughter Jean who married Dr Hugh Smith.

The 1861 census shows Pennymore now being farmed by John Hunter 37. He is farming 132 acres and employing 3 men. He has a wife Isabella 30 and three children Robert 3, Margaret C. 2 and infant James. They are assisted by ploughmen William Roxburgh 23 & John McSkimming 19, agricultural labourer John Roxburgh 20, dairymaid Sarah Miller 21 and domestic servant Mary McGavan 18.

The 1871 census shows unmarried John Sloan 35 now farming Pennymore. He is farming 125 acres arable and employing 4 labourers. Listed on the census are his unmarried brother Robert 37 who is a ploughman, Sarah Miller 30 the dairymaid and agricultural labourers John Hannah 16 & James Henney 15.

The 1881 census shows John Sloan  44 farmer of 125 acres arable employing  1 man, 2 girls and 1 boy. He is now married to  Sarah 37 (Rankine Millar) and they have children Robert 7 and Maggie 5. They are assisted by farm servants Hugh A.R. Craig 25 & Thomas McTaggart 16, Mary Thomson 24 dairymaid and general domestic Catherine McKie 17.

The 1891 census shows John Sloan 54 still farming Pennymore assisted by his wife Sarah R.M. Sloan 53, son Robert 17 and daughter Maggie 15, Sarah Miller 24 step-daughter who is the dairymaid, Alexander Johnston 23 farm servant and Janet Shankland 24 general domestic. They are being visited by Marion Miller 37 a contractor's wife. 

The 1901 census for Pennymore shows that John Sloan 65 is now a widower. He is assisted by his son Robert 27, daughter Maggie 25 and general servants Robina Ramsay Grant 19 & Mary McGee 17.
