1841 Census - Marshalmak
James Kerr - farmer
+ wife Janet Murray and 3 children + James Murray + family named Sampica (Samson?) and a family named Glasgow

NB: James Kerr's parents were John Kerr who was born in Knockburnie and died in High West Park New Cumnock and Betty Gemmell

1851 Census - Marshalmark
James Kerr - farmer of 150 acres
+ sister Margaret (housekeeper)  and 5 children + Thomas Murray Agr Lab, 1 farm serv (m), 1 dairymaid, 1 house serv (f), and scholar John Hyslop (lodger)

NB James died 18/4/1853 at Marshallmark. The executor in his Will was John Kerr farmer at High Park. Appraisal thereof by Alexander Kerr Licensed Appraiser in Cumnock.

1861 Census - Marshallmark
William Kerr -23, farmer of 170 acres, siblings Thomas, Robert, Agnes and Aunt Margaret, James Riddle visitor shepherd . a visiting dressmaker and a lodger.
NB William married Sarah Sloan (Roughside) 14/12/1866

1871 Census - Marshall mark
William Kerr 33 farmer of 80 acres arable, wife Sarah, son James 2, 3 servants and brother John Kerr 32 a spirit merchant

In 1881 the census shows William Kerr 43 with his wife Sarah 42, two sons and one daughter. The farm was 180 acres all arable employing 1 man, 2 girls and 1 boy.(1 ploughman, 1 gen serv (m), 1 gen serv (f), 1 housemaid)

+ 1 son, 1 dtr, 1 farm serv (m) & 2 general servants (f)

1885 Valuation Rolls Owner - Sir Reginald Archibald Edward Cathcart. He was  the owner until his death in 1916

1905 VR James Robertson was the tenant/occupier
1915 VR Mars Mary Sharp widow as the tenant
1920 VR still Mary Sharp but new owner is Captain Ivo David Cathcart-Walker-Heneage (nephew of previous owner. No change  until 1935 when no tenant recorded but the owner was Ivo's son John George Anthony Cathcart-Walker-Heneage
In 1940 the tenant was Wallace Brown - no owner

The Brown family winners of the Changue Cup for the best pair of Ayrshires in Confined Classes. It became the property of an exhibitor winning any four years or three years in succession.
