Little Dalhanna, New Cumnock

Location 55 22 25N, 4 10 59W.


Known locally as Wee Dalhanna or Little Dalhanna and formerly Nether Dalhanna. It formed part of the Castlemains Estate.

1851 census shows James McLeod 43 ag lab wife (Elspeth McKnight) 48, 4 children and a female servant

Owned from around 1885 by Mrs Mary McQueen Thomson Carmichael.
1886 Slater's gives Robert Craig as the farmer.

John Montgomerie (husband to Wilhelmina Mair) and his John (junior) were farmers at Wee Dalhanna, John (senior) died there in November 1895.  In 1901 John (junior) a sergeant in the Imperial Yeomanry was killed while serving in the Boer War.

The valuation rolls show a further change of hands by 1905, William Welsh.
