Robert died in 1865

1871 census George Wallace 40 and wife Jane Andrew 28 farming 128 acres arable and employing 2 labourers.  They have daughters Isabella 1 and Marion McCartney under 1 and servants Anne Clement 16, John McAndrew 18, and Robert Thomson 13.

1881 census George Wallace 50 and wife Jane McAndrew 38 farming 125 acres arable employing 1 man and 1 woman. They have five children under 10, Marion McCatney, Robert, Sarah, John George, and Mary Jane. They have two servants living in , John McCurdie 16 and Elizabeth Jamison 14.

Hunterston  was then in Stair when the parish boundaries were changed between Ochiltree and Stair in 1890
