Andrew Gibb 1798-1874 was the miller/ farmer there until his death in 1874
The 1851 census shows Andrew Gibb 52 Bridgend Mill, farmer of 16 acres and miller, second wife Jean (Rankin) 46, son Andrew 20 employed at home, son John 18 apprentice millwright, son Alexander Boswell Gibb 13 employed on farm, dtr Agnes Howie Gibb 11 employed at home, sons James Rankin Gibb 8, William Richardson Gibb 6, Gavin McMin Gibb 2, 1 female house servant and one female visitor who is a sewer.
The 1861 census shows Andrew Gibb 61 at Mill, Main Street,  corn miller, his wife Jane 56, son Gavin 12, step-daughter Margaret McGill 25 who is an assistant and 1 female domestic.
The 1871 census Bridgend Mill, Main Street shows Andrew Gibb 72 farmer of 16 acres, wife Jane 66, step-daughter Margaret McGill 33, Jane Gibb 7 grand-daughter and 14yrs old Violet Kerr a farmer's daughter who is boarding.
The 1881 census for Bridge End Mill shows Jane Gibb 76 farmer's widow, son-in-law Joseph Smith 53 a grain merchant, Margaret Smith 46 daughter, Elizabeth Smith 18 dressmaker/grand-daughter and Jane R Gibb17 who is also a grand-daughter and a pupil teacher.
The 1891 census for Bridgend Mill shows Jane's son-in-law 63 now farming there with his wife Margaret Smith 56 and Joseph Smith their 8yr old grandson. Also living there is Jane Gibb his mother-in-law now 86 an annuitant and 1 male general servant.
The 1901 census for Bridge End Mill shows Joseph Smith 73 still farming there along with his wife Margaret 64, dtr Jane Rankin Gibb 37 who is an elementary schoolteacher, Joseph Smith 18 grandson who is a farm servant and 1 female general servant.
