Location OS six inch for Scotland

Usually referred to as Hill of Ochiltree.
Scotlands Places describes Hill like this in 1855/57:
"A large Farm house and outoffices planned on the most approved Sanitary principal the dwelling is two, and the out offices one, Storey high Slated and in good repair quite modern hence the name, the property of the heirs of the late Alexander Ross Esquire adjacent to and north of Ochiltree Village"

1841 No references, although it must have existed as it appears on the above OS Name Book of  1855/7
1851 James Hamilton 34 farm manager of 135 acres employing 7 labourers. His sister Anna Bell  30, is housekeeper.  Also niece Mary Douglas 5, two dairymaids, Jane Riddle 29 and Agnes McAlpine 20 and James Gibson 15, cow feeder.
1861 William Steel 48, and wife Jane 48, farming 104 acres employing 3 labourers.  Family are James 13, Jane 12, Janet 8, Robert 6, William 4, and John 2.  Annie Findlay 20 and Margaret McBride 19 are domestic servants.

1871 William Wallace 43 and Christina W, 42, farming 145 acres arable and employing 1 labourer.  With them are daughters Maggie W 15, Christina 7, Jane 1, and Marion M 9. Also sonsWilliam R M 14, John 12, James 5, and Thomas D 3.  Margaret McLeod 45 is visiting and Robert Nisbet 21 is a ploughman.
The 1881 census shows William Wallace 52 and his wife Christina 51. The farms is stated as 14 acres arable employing 2 men and 3 girls.
Also on the farm are their children Maggie 25, William R. M. 24, Marion M 19, Christina 17, James George 15, Thomas D 13, Jane M 11 and Mary 7.
1891 Hill of Ochiltree. William Wallace 62, wife Christina 61, daughters Marion McC 28, Christina 26, Jane M 21 and Mary 17, ande son Thomas D, 23, general estate clerk.  Alexander McRobert 22 is a farm servant.
1901 Hill Farm.  William 72 and Christina 71, with Christina 37, Jane Merry, 31, Mary 27, and grand daughter Davidina Catherine Wilson 7.  James Savage 23, is a ploughman.
1911 Hill, Ochiltree William Wallace 82 Head farmer wife Christina 81 2 daughters a granddaughter and a ploughman
