The  land  south  of  Bowes  steading was  open casted  in  the  1970s , and  subsequently restored. It  is  amalgamated  with Horsecleugh, and  a  small part  of  Netherton, run  by  the  Watt family  who  came down  from Neilston c1972 , when  the  Murrays  left.
